Wanted: "Latest News" maintainer
I wonder if there is anyone out there who keeps fairly up to date with the world of Puppy Linux and can offer to regularly update the news feed here at puppylinux.org?
The feed appears on the front page of the site (where there are around 8000 visits a day) and also the feed is linked to an RSS feeder which automatically updates people whenever new items are added.
The feed is not only a good way of consolidating the many projects going on in Puppy, but also a good way of recording the adventures of Puppy for posterity.
I don't have any expectations of the frequency of updates, but only that someone might be able to do it fairly consistently, even if it's only once a month.

hey supervisor, I could do that
hey supervisor, I could do that--for a while at least, I would want to update more often than has been--I think it is good for people to see something different eveytime they log on. I follow the news daily. But first I have to find out what sucks up my cpu cycles everytime I log on to this website. No joke, something makes my cpu usage go crazy here--nowhere else in puppy world or anywhere else that I have noticed. I am going to turn javascript off and see what happens. Anyway I think it would be fun--if you have other volunteers then I differ to them. thanks..
yes, much better without javascript. It's such a nice site I thought you used javascript iuntensively, but it looks just as good. did i not turn it off?
Great! The jobs yours :)
No worries, take the job on for as long as you like -- even if it's just a short while, your efforts will be much appreciated :)
I know I had said that I didn't want to use too much Javascript in the site, but I forgot about the WYSIWIG text-editor, and a number of other little scripts have crept in, like the Google Language Bar and the Repo browser. I'm actually considering changing the text-editor in the future. But as you've discovered the site works just as well without Javascript :)
So I've now given you access to the Latest News section, feel free to begin your reporting career ;) Feel free also to cotact me through the site's contact form (link at the bottom of every page).
Thankyou very much playdayz,
tom :)
