This is a place for recording all those odd snippets of information you find that may be of use to others. The wiki has been loosely categorised using the menu on the left. The wiki is not a good place for asking for help with a problem with your puppy. Starting a thread on the forum is the best place for getting help, it is overflowing with experts
Jump In
This area is editable by anyone registered on the site. If you find a page that needs editing don't be shy just jump in and do it yourself. You can create links to other pages using the standard double square brackets notation. If you create a new page then you should add to a category to ensure that it can be found using the left hand menu. It is also possible to apply tags to pages to make them easier to find. The editor pane has WYSIWYG controls but if you want to experiment sand box2 is a good place to play. If you have some ideas to improve any aspect of the site Site Suggestions is a good place to add them. You might find Website ToDo List interesting to see the stuff we know needs to be done.
Its New
The pages of the previous puppylinux.org wikka were copied here in April 2008. Many of the pages have been categorised automatically. Many of the old pages can still be found under Old Wikka Wikki these may well be out of date, need editing or be Pages For Deletion, if you want to jump in and help you will be very welcome. The old wikka is still accessible at http://pupweb.org/wikka/.

I downloaded Puppy 4, Dingo, and loaded it onto a CD. I've done this 3 times from 3 different sites.
The boot starts fine, and runs through several processes, until a message, "Loading Kernel Modules" comes up. At this point it freezes. On all three different CDs this happens.
How can I get past this? How can I use Puppy (whine, whine, winge)
Not sure if that's the place to discuss it, but I join this question. On my Acer A6R it hangs on loading modules. With loglevel=7 (I started it through GRUB) it said something about PCMCIA, then froze. BIOS was a bit loony after that for some time. Is there something undocumented that would do loglevel=1000?
I'm using the latest Live CD and Puppy won't transfer over to a CF card, this has worked well on previous versions. Just when it should be copying files the CD drawer pops open and it seems to be finished, nothing on the CF card though.
You probably need to start a thread on the forum, this problem requires interactive help. It ought to be possible to do the install manually just by copying the relevant files over.
Hmm requires the autodesk plugin... I would recommend you just try Google Earth instead unless you are really needing data like land plot layout.... which i believe that would be in the GIS data... at least it is in our county
tried googleing a little for more about autodesk mapguide ... didn't get far that way
Taking Puppy Linux to the limit of perfection. No, we can't get there but we can get infinitely close! meanwhile try the "puppy pfix=duct_tape" kernel parem eater. My Website : <a href="http://webpages.uncc.edu/%7Ecarayf
For more privileged users there is choice when a page is made to choose whether the page is checked for mailicous HTML. For ordinary registered users there is no choice, the page is always filtered for malicious HTML. If the page-creator makes the page with the filter off then ordinary authenticated users will not be able to edit that page.
As far as I am aware all wiki pages are always made with the filter on, so that all users will be able to edit it. So maybe what happened with this page is that the author (hairywill I think) may have turned the filter off, making the page un-editable by ordinary users.

You can get help on the forum
You need to start a thread on the forum http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy. It is full of experts and they don't bite.

Can it handle a page like this?
Is there any way with Dingo & perhaps an added app or plug-in that this site may be viewed?

I can't find a page to list all of the wiki pages. This would be very useful.
Can we have one please? Or is it too tricky?
good idea
Just managing to keep the site is probably a major achievement for the next few days. I've created a page Site Suggestions and added it there

That's weird. A minute ago I could access that suggestions page, then I logged in, and now it says I'm not authorised to access it.
It would be handy to have a prominent link to that page eventually.
Also, I wonder if Tom or whoever knows that the search doesn't work - it searches the forum even if you select to just search the wiki.
Can you access it
Can you access it now?
Yeah I know about the search, I think I will be working on that next...

No, and at university an hour ago I couldn't post here either.

No, I still can't get to that page.
But I am not even trying to edit it - I can't even see it.
