if you have Vector installed (and probably most other distros), the Bistream fonts are in:
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF/
and they alsready have the fonts.dir and fonts.scale files, so you don't have to run mkfontscale and mkfontdir.
-- just copy the entire TTF contents to a created Puppy hidden directory /root/.fonts
