Within Puppy using SYSLINUX
SYSLINUX is a boot loader.
First create a Puppy Linux Live CD or DVD. Then use it to boot up into Puppy Linux.
Make sure that there is a MS-DOS FAT file system, e.g. FAT32, formatted partition so as to install the boot loader. If necessary create one by using GParted: Menu > System > GParted
Commence the installation wizard: Menu > Setup > Puppy universal installer
Answer some questions; select relevant USB flash drive from the list presented; select the partition to be used for installation; Select mbr.bin; commence reboot process and remove the LiveCD or DVD.

Within Puppy using GRUB
GRUB is the GRand Unified Bootloader.GRUB requires a EXT2/3/4 file system. Create one if necessary using GParted: Menu > System > GParted
Install GRUB by going to: Menu > System > GRUB
