- Installation notes: program installs to /mnt/home/opera (which is outside any existing pupsave file), and this opera directory can be subsequently moved to a different location and started by clicking on the "start" file inside it; always have two copies of the profile directory, made at regular intervals, kept on separate media, and before un-installing; default location of profile directory /mnt/home/opera/program/profile
When installed available from: Menu > Internet > Opera
Un-install the old version before installing a new one: Menu > Setup > Puppy Package Manager
Installing Opera via Automatic Installation
- Either use a previously assembled .pet software package (given above) by downloading the file and then left-button-mouse-clicking on it
- or, run the Opera installer from within an extracted, pre-compiled Opera binary: download the desired binary, e.g. opera-10.51-6248.linux.i386.tar.bz2, extract the contents, and then run "install.sh" inside the extraction directory, which will install to pre-defined locations:
./install.sh
Installing Opera via Manual Installation
With this method the Opera directory can be installed to one's location of choice. Acquire this single directory by downloading, for example, the latest UNIX snapshot of Opera if available: http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/Within the download directory extract (unpack) the downloaded file, for example:
tar xfjv opera-10.51-6248.linux.i386.tar.bz2
Enter extracted Opera directory:
cd opera-10.51-6248.linux.i386.tar.bz2/
And start the program with:
./opera &
