Downloads of Puppy "Very Happy" 3.01

Note: there are 2 versions of Puppy 3.01. Try the standard version first (puppy-3.01-seamonkey.iso).
The 'retro' version has the older kernel for compatibility with older hardware.
  • Release Notes for Puppy 3.01∞ - read here to understand more about which version of Puppy to download & read other useful info.
  • Info on Downloading
    • If you use a download manager (e.g. GetRight) please make sure that it only establishes 1 (ONE) connection to a server.
    • The top 3 links are ordinary links (http/ftp). Just download the way you usually do (with web browser/downloadmanager etc).
    • BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer filesharing method that can be very fast. You need to have BitTorrent software before you can use it. See BitTorrent for more info.
    • MetaLink is a way of combining your download from several different sources instead of relying on just one. You need to have a MetaLink-capable downloader before you can use it. See MetaLink for more info.
    • ed2k checksums are for use with filesharing programs like aMule & MLDonkey

    Patch to update a puppy-3.00-seamonkey.iso to puppy-3.01-seamonkey.iso

If you already have the previous version of Puppy, you can avoid downloading an entire new ISO by just downloading a patch and then using the XdeltA program. See XdeltA for more info.

Info on checking your downloaded file
    • If you used a standard download link & method, you need to check the file has downloaded correctly, by verifying its Md5 checksum. See Md5 for more info.
    • Md5 check is unnecessary with BitTorrent & ed2k downloads (and some MetaLink clients), as those downloads are checked & fixed automatically.

Info on using your downloaded file
    • Once your download is complete, you should have an ".iso" file. After checking this .iso file is OK (see above), you need to burn it onto a CD or DVD: see Burn Puppy CD in Windows, Burn Puppy CD in Puppy, BurningLinuxIsoBasics for more info.
    • Once you've burned the CD/DVD with Puppy, put the CD/DVD in your computer, restart the computer and Puppy starts.
