Who am I?

Background

Worked in educational computing for the past 20 years. Now a freelance consultant, with an expertise in sustainable computing and open source solutions. Member of NAACE and the BCS.

Chair of Schoolforge UK and a member of X.org and sometime contributer to the LTSP project. Schoolforge promotes and supports the use of Free, Libre and Open Source Software in schools - working closely with Becta and the others interested in getting FLOSS more involved in schools.

Projects

* Handsworth Grammar School - while at Head of Computing at Handsworth specified and installed a campus wide LTSP network. This has been featured in various press articles and the Becta TCO survey (large pdf files).
* Free data logging - currently developing an open resource for schools to cheaply do datalogging.

Public Speaking

An established public speaker who has spoken at conferences around the country on a range of subjects related to Open Source and education. Also participated in a range of event panel discussions and debates.
