Importered from old WiKi -- 30/04-08 18:04.

Programs and utilities being created, added to and recompiled

for future Puppys

MADWiFi

acx100 (for Texas Instruments) http://acx100.sourceforge.net/index.html
Download http://acx100.erley.org/
Latest acx-* version is stable, acxsm-* (softmac) versions probably won't work.

adm8211 (for ADMtek) http://aluminum.sourmilk.net/adm8211/

BerliOS at76c503a (for Atmel USB devices) http://at76c503a.berlios.de
Download http://developer.berlios.de/projects/at76c503a/
or CVS http://at76c503a.berlios.de/cvs.html

linux-wlan-ng (for Prism2/2.5/3) http://www.linux-wlan.org
Download ftp://ftp.linux-wlan.org/pub/linux-wlan-ng/
Recent kernels require the latest version 0.2.5

Marvell Libertas http://www.saillard.org/linux/mrv8k/files/

Prism54 "islsm" (for Prism GT softmac) http://jbnote.free.fr/prism54usb/
Download http://jbnote.free.fr/prism54usb/data/code/tarballs/

rt2400/2500/2570/61 (for Ralink) http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
Download http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Downloads
Use "legacy" drivers. "rt2x00" drivers are unstable.

RT2571W/RT2671 ("rt73", for Ralink) http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm

rtl8180-sa2400 driver (for Realtek RTL8180/8185/RTL8187USB) http://rtl8180-sa2400.sourceforge.net/
Download cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/rtl8180-sa2400
Get the rtl8187-newstack and rtl818x-newstack branches

ZD1211 (for ZyDAS) http://zd1211.ath.cx/
Download http://zd1211.ath.cx/download/

And there are two new wifi drivers due to merge with the mainstream kernel from version 2.6.18 -
bcm43xx-softmac and ipw3945

And I can suggest a few more drivers:
Sage needs support for an ESS2898-based winmodem. Source code here http://tx.technion.ac.il/~raindel/

PCTEL is another winmodem maybe deserving of support. http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/pctel-linux/welcome.html

The Broadcom BCM4401 ethernet NIC is supported by the opensource b44 driver, but apparently it doesn't work very well.
The proprietary Broadcom driver is better. Download http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php

Webcam Drivers from NickDriver

MU's installer

main gripes in 2.10 would also be a good idea.
There seems to be a bit of slowdown in older hardware, so perhaps we have to
reconsider the LZMA compression. Barry

GXine media player
does not play properly (band on top of viewing area)
yellow info screen at start
whole desktop goes black

Open Doc support (not working in Abiword in 2.10)

Puppy213 codename 'STAR'

* Post the kernel source for 2.11 as a .sfs file. This makes it easy to install/remove and doesn't take up space in the pup_save file.
* The X11R7 tar ball for 2.10 was very handy. Do it again!
* Add a symlink from /usr/X11R7/include/GL to /usr/include.
* NTFS-3g up to sixth release, ntfs-3g-20070920-beta, see : http://www.linux-ntfs.org/
* Add a comment to the Betaftpd dialog stating that the user's home directory must be out side of the unionfs filesystem or you can't download.
* RipperX won't make a good mp3 file. The 2.02 binaries work in 2.10. see: http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?p=72757#72757
