So far this is what I've got going - all of these (except Quicken) I've previously had running under CrossOver on PCLinuxOS. ePrompter -(Puppy 2.13, Wine 0.9.17) my favourite email checker (bit like MailWasher but IMHO much better). Appears to work flawlessly, gets some errors behind the scene but these have no effect on its functions. QuickBooks V8 -(Puppy 2.13, Wine 0.9.17) as V8 is only an update I had to install V7 first. Couple of things to watch for.
You must have 'D' (or something) defined as your cd drive before you try to install it.
Might have to turn on or off (in winecfg) whether windows are managed. This seemed to be different in the two versions. If you get it wrong some windows won't appear as they are under another window and the program appears to hang.
Start the 'setup' file in disk1 on the cd, don't use the 'autorun' file.
The installation hangs at the finish trying to create menu entries. It can be killed, all the important bits have been done.
Have Arial and Times New Roman fonts installed. Some modules of QB don't check for their existence and the printing may 'vanish'. EchoLink (Puppy 2.13, Wine 0.9.17) An Amateur Radio program. Apart from some problems getting the sound card to work properly (which was quite unconnected to EchoLink) this worked 'out of the box'. DeltaCad (Puppy 2.13, Wine 0.9.17) Installs and works OK. To use the macro facility requires a fix which can be obtained from Frank's Corner. http://frankscorner.org/∞ Quicken 2004 (Puppy 2.13, Wine 0.9.17) Installed OK (must use 'setup' from disk1 on the cd as for QuickBooks). Appears to work but only limited testing so far. Like QuickBooks the installation hung at the finish creating menu entries. It can be 'killed'.
(Added 2nd April 07) After some testing I have not been able to use it. Can't register it - even though I have the registration key the window is too small to allow entry of all the digits. There are also windowing problems and it can be VERY difficult to find the window you want to see!! Worth somebody else playing with, they might have different results.
