- if a N.T.F.S. has errors on it NTFS-3G will mount it as read-only
- to fix a N.T.F.S. load Microsoft Windows and run its disk checking program
- to repair a file system without booting Microsoft Windows the device must already be unmounted; e.g. to fix a N.T.F.S. partition residing at /dev/sda2: %%# umount /dev/sda2
