The more people who run relays, the faster the Tor network will be. If you have at least 20 kilobytes/s each way, please help out Tor by [[http://www.torproject.org/docs/tor-doc-relay.html.en configuring your Tor to be a relay]] too. ==Installation== ~-[[software software package]]: ~~-[[http://www.datafilehost.com/download-3eb93d75.html tor-0.2.3.25-up-20121121.pet]] ~~-[[http://www.datafilehost.com/download-a0e612c5.html tor-0.2.2.39-up-20120912.pet]] --- ~-dependencies: +[[bzip2]],+[[grep]],+[[libevent]],+[[openssl]],+[[polipo]],+[[tar]] --- ~-Tor is dependent on Polipo and libevent being installed. It is recommended that the latest, stable version of openssl is also installed. --- ~-Tor is dependent on the host computer having its clock synchronized with that of the network clock: [[Psync]] --- ~-the Web browser is only able to make use of Tor when: ~~- [[Polipo the Web browser has been configured to use Polipo]] ~~- both Tor and Polipo are also running as well; running the above Tor package will auto-start Polipo (assuming it has already been installed) ~~~-//Menu > Network > Tor// --- ~-confirmation of successful Tor connection: ~~-http://torstatus.blutmagie.de/ ~~-https://check.torproject.org/ --- ~-the current Tor circuit may be terminated and a new Tor circuit established at any time: ~~-//Menu > Network > Tor// --- ~-%%./configure CFLAGS="-mtune=generic -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}" --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu%% ==How to use Tor== ~1. Browsing using tor is simply clicking on Tor-Browser from the Internet menu everything is already set up since it is from the Tor bundle so it is a seperate FF browser than what is used for JAP and Freedom. ~2. While the Tor-Browser is faster it is much less secure and does not have security settings that are in place for the main FF browser with [[JAP]] and [[YourFreedom]], it was included for those who wanted a little bit of security yet still somewhat decent browsing speeds, I highly recommend using [[Elinks]] with Freedom if you want to stay highly secure yet still get high browsing speeds. ==Related Webpage== ~-http://www.torproject.org/index.html.en ~-http://www.torproject.org/dist/ ~-http://www.torproject.org/docs/tor-doc-unix.html.en ~-http://www.slackers.it/repository/tor/pkg/ ~-http://pkgs.org/slackware-13.37/slackers-i686/2/ ~-http://gitweb.torproject.org/tor.git?a=blob_plain;hb=HEAD;f=ChangeLog --- ---- ==Categories== CategorySecurity CategoryNetworking CategoryOffice CategorySoftwareTopPackages CategorySoftware
